The 2025 Steinmetz Symposium Student Art Exhibition is now open in the Crowell and West Galleries in the Feigenbaum Center for Visual Arts.
This staple of the symposium has grown considerably, and this year’s exhibition includes some 250 works by more than 80 students from the 2024-2025 academic year – making it the largest, most diverse Steinmetz exhibition to date.
Mediums include digital art, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. Subject matter ranges from family, romantic and other relationships to body imagery.
In addition to showcasing work by arts majors, minors and seniors, Union’s visual arts faculty drew selections from among all students who took an art class this academic year.
New this year is a display of several artist books from a “Poetic Object” course team taught by Allison Conley, lecturer of visual arts (printmaking and drawing), and book artist and poet Erica Mena last spring. The course explored the intersection between poetry and visual arts.
“This exhibition is a dynamic exhibition of excellent craft and thoughtful delivery,” said Frank Rapant ’07, photography and exhibition technician.
The show is part of the 35th Annual Steinmetz Symposium, a celebration of student research and creative endeavors across all disciplines, set for Friday, May 9. It is free and open to the public, and on display through Sunday, May 15. A virtual walkthrough is also available.
